Fall Maintenance Checklist for Solar Lights (Before the First Freeze)

Fall is the season that decides which of your solar lights see spring. The math is boring but real: a light that goes into December with a dirty panel, a half-dead battery, and a cracked gasket faces freeze-thaw cycles, weaker sun, and longer nights all at once. Then test the batteries before you buy anything. Swap the cell from a bright light into a dim one. If the dimness follows the battery, the battery is the problem; if the same fixture stays dim with a known-good cell, you are looking at corroded contacts or water intrusion, and no new battery will fix that. Mid Fall (October): Replace, Prune, Rethink the Spot

Anything that failed the swap test gets a fresh cell now, not in April.
