Solar post cap lights are one of the best upgrades you can make to a deck or fence, and they are also one of the most commonly botched purchases in outdoor lighting. The idea is appealing: a light that sits on top of a post, charges all day, and marks the edges of your deck or the line of your fence at night without a single wire. The execution is where people get burned, because post caps are a fit-critical product. The wrong size, the wrong mounting style, or the wrong material turns a thirty-dollar light into a wobbly, leaking, dim disappointment. What a Solar Post Cap Light Actually Does
A post cap light does two jobs, and it is worth being clear about both before you shop. The first job is marking.
